So you want to try out swinging? You are probably wondering what to expect when you turn up at a swingers club for the first time.
Let’s start by looking at what exactly swinging is …
In the past swinging has also been referred to as wife swapping, husband swapping, or partner swapping. This definition refers only to partners in committed relationships – but you will also find single men and women involved at most swinger’s events.
Most commonly people come to a swingers club or party to engage in sexual activities with others as a recreational or social activity. These events can also be places people go to socialize and meet like- minded people and not all couples always get involved in the sexual aspect of the evening or event. Some may go just for the anticipation and excitement it gives them and just attending the event may mean that their sexual play together once they are home is enhanced.
Swingers’ parties are not typically somewhere people single go to meet future partners – but occasionally people meet others that they do click with at the swingers club and relationships do develop. Singles are typically at swinger’s parties to join couples as a threesome or join in with group sex activities.
Swingers clubs are also a safe place to come to meet up with people you have been chatting with online and that you want to meet face to face for the first time. Many couples set up dates with other couples at a swingers club if they are not able to meet up in their own homes especially if they have children or relatives that live with them.
So what are the motivations of couples that get involved in the swingers scene..
Couples are typically engaged in the swinging lifestye to :
· Spice up their sex lives or get out of the rut of routine sex
· Have more frequent and exciting sexual experiences
· Fulfil sexual fantasies with their partner in a context that is safe and secure
Many couples see swinging as a way to be sexually adventurous while remaining faithful to their partner. Most have good relationships with their partners and emotional monogamy and their loving relationship remain the primary focus of their relationship. Most have strong family values and lead very ordinary traditional lives outside of their swinging activities.
Successful swinging couples are open and honest with each other and have good communication skills. They have rules around what they do at swinger’s events and how their partner is involved. Most couples that have been in the scene for a few years find that the swinger’s scene strengthens and stabilizes their relationship.
However couples that are new to the swinging scene may still have emotional issues to work through. If they are just dipping their toes in the scene there may be some nervousness and jealousy. Some may be looking to swing to try to fix an unhappy marriage situation but this scene is generally going to make this relationship worse rather than be a fix.
Be open and considerate with people with the people you may meet and if issues come up during play be empathetic with them.
What demographic group are swingers …
Studies suggest that approximately 4% of the populations are involved in the swinging lifestyle. This is taken from surveys done in the US.
The average age of swingers is late thirties and early forties. Of course you will also meet younger and older people at events. We don’t encourage very young guests and ask most to be over 25 and younger than 60. Most swingers have higher than average education levels and have been involved in the swinging scene for about 5 years.
The concept of partner swapping has been around for a long time in many ancient societies but in modern western society swinging grew in popularity in the 60-70’s due to age of sexual freedoms, contraception, and treatments for common STI’s. It has had resurgence in popularity from the 90’s due to the emergence of the internet and its effect on ease of communication.
Most swingers practice safe sex and hence the swinging community has no higher rate of STI transmission than does the rest of general society.
What to wear to a swingers club ..
At Infusions we encourage smart stylish attire to our regular events. Men typically arrive dressed in dress pants and a shirt, women in dresses, smart business casual or sexual attire.
Of course most clubs do run theme nights and for these dressing up to the theme is appropriate and encouraged. Involvement of all guests in the theme just adds to the fun of the night.
Most clubs will have locker and change room facilities available to allow you to dress down during the night as you are comfortable. We keep the club warm in winter and cool in summer so it is comfortable for people to dress down.
Over the evening it’s quite common for some of the women to change into and show off sexy lingerie. Others may dress down only for play and then get dressed when they rejoin the social group. It is up to every persons comfort level and preference.
What happens at a swingers club …
Not all clubs are the same and I can only describe what I have experienced at Infusions club and other the clubs that we have visited.
At Infusions we encourage a fun social atmosphere. When people arrive they meet our bar staff and deliver drinks to them to be kept behind the bar and served by our staff. People enjoy a drink at the bar, play a game of pool, or get involved in conversations in our lounge area.
The socializing continues throughout the night and as the night progresses some people will invite others to join them in one of the rooms for some sexual play. Some people play in couples, others in groups, and some are just happy to either watch others play or stay in the social area. People drift in and out of the rooms during the evening and after play may join the rest of the crowd back in the social area.
There is no pressure for anyone to get involved in sexual activities; everyone participates in the evening as they are comfortable. Our staff are always there to ensure rules are followed and everyone can enjoy a fun evening.
What are the rules …
Most swingers clubs do have rules and these are in place for safety and comfort of all guests. Most swingers venues insist that :
1) All play is consensual
2) You must be invited to join other couples or groups
3) No unsolicited touching or play
4) Safe sex is encouraged and condoms and lubes are provided
5) No drugs or drunkenness are allowed
Is there only heterosexual play …
More than 50% of women who are in the swinging lifestyle have played with other women or express that they are bi-sexual. Play between women is quite common and hence it is quite common to have groups of 2 women and one man. Play between men is not often seen at swingers clubs and only 8% of men in studies have been involved in homosexual play at a swingers club. Many men in the swinging lifestyle may be bisexual but because of social pressures and acceptance only play with other men in specialized settings or events.
Come along and see what happens at a swingers party yourself … we open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
